I've found that most of my day-to-day tasks fit nicely into one of these lists. As you can see in the screenshot to the right, these lists cover topics like "Financial", "Home Repairs", "Shopping", and my "Someday" list. ![]() Meaning, they're not something you can ever fully complete - they're ongoing. ![]() These are a special category of task lists in OmniFocus that aren't actual projects. Within this folder I have a few single-action lists. This includes everything from the mundane "buy toilet paper" and "rent car for NY trip" to beefier tasks like "get three estimates for new backyard fence". My first folder, "Personal", holds all the tasks and projects that fall under my, well, personal life. Some people call these "categories" or "areas of responsibility". Three BucketsĪll of the tasks I do throughout my day fit into one of three buckets. At night, in addition to my personal commitments, I freelance and run my own, small software company. Particularly since my work straddles two different worlds: during the day I'm at a large corporation with responsibilities to multiple teams and relying on tasks delegated to other co-workers. ![]() (Oh, and if you're one of those readers who likes to skip straight to the end, allow me to save you the trouble: OmniFocus wipes the floor with every other Mac task manager because of Perspectives.)Įverything I say obviously only applies to my own, odd way of getting things done - but hopefully there will be a few points others might find useful, too. So that's what this post will attempt to do. Despite being a user for nearly three years - since the first public beta - for some reason I've never gotten around to writing about why I find it so useful and how it fits into my own workflow. I've noticed a resurgence on the web of people talking about OmniFocus and how they use the app to manage their task lists.

I know that is my favorite thing to do when I am online. Understandably, these findings have caused a frenzy of online debate and speculation because there is nothing that Internet users love more than to debate, speculate, and cause frenzies over nonissues. “While I’m not familiar with what was done in the classroom setting, I can confirm for you that our recipe for the Oreo Double Stuf Cookie has double the Stuf, or creme filling, when compared with our base, or original Oreo cookie.” In response to Anderson’s findings, a spokeswoman for Mondelez International, Nabisco’s parent company, made this claim: 14 of “stuf” that myself and countless Oreo consumers have paid for and not received. I do not think there is any fruit or cheese or stuff in any of these “foods.” I am no lawyer, but I think I see the makings of a class action lawsuit. Perhaps Nabisco’s use of the word “stuf” should have tipped us off to the fallacy of their claim, similar to the way bottled, aerosol cheese is labeled “cheez” and how fruit cereals use the word “froot” on their labels. By comparing the mass of the “stuf” of 10 regular, 10 Double Stuf, and 10 Mega Stuf Oreos, as well as 5 barren Oreo wafers, Anderson’s class came to this disheartening conclusion: Double Stuf Oreos are only 1.86 stuffed. ![]() ![]() I have a recently learned of a much larger fish that the FDA needs to fry: Nabisco’s so-called “Double Stuf” Oreo cookies.ĭan Anderson, a math teacher in Queensbury, N.Y., assigned his students to test Nabisco’s double-stuffed claim. Is a modern baby glider preferable to a modern baby rocker?Ī baby rocker and baby glider offer different benefits, both in terms of how they feel and how they look, so their appeal is a matter of personal preference, more than anything. While a baby rocker is defined by a forwards and backwards motion that's stronger and more defined, the back and forth horizontal motion of a glider is a bit smoother and gentler. This difference in the mechanics of a rocker and glider naturally results in a variation between the two types of motion generated. Unseen is the mechanism mounted to the glider's base, which produces a sliding back-and-forth motion for the user-movement that becomes evident only when the glider is in use. An updated version of a traditional rocker, a glider keeps its mechanics hidden beneath comfortable upholstery and fabric detailing, looking for all intents and purposes like a comfortable modern lounge chair. Still, most rockers-whether baby rocker or deck furniture-are essentially simple designs, their seats anchored to a pair of curved wood legs that propel the chairs back and forth in familiar, even nostalgic, fashion.Ī baby glider is a more complicated piece of furniture. Traditional rocking chairs, usually made of wood, have been in fashion for centuries, and while they bring to mind a country, farmhouse esthetic, modern baby rockers have evolved to include sleek, contemporary designs that look perfectly at home in stylish city apartments. Two fundamental characteristics-construction and motion-differentiate a rocker from a glider. What's the difference between a baby rocker and a baby glider? In the nursery, a baby rocker or baby glider yields immeasurable benefits for both mother and newborn, offering soothing relief with its ergonomic comfort and gentle, repetitive motion. Rockers and gliders are unique pieces of furniture that offer specific benefits, particularly when placed in a nursery or kid's room. Babies should always be placed to sleep on their backs.Craft a cozy nook in your home with a modern baby rocker “Parents and caregivers should never add blankets, pillows or other items to an infant’s sleeping environment. “CPSC continues to emphasize that the best place for a baby to sleep is on a firm, flat surface in a crib, bassinet or play yard,” the statement said. Many in-boom problems are caused by an uneven furl with the sail bunching at one end or the other. Inside the mast is an aluminium foil that takes the luff of the mainsail, and in a boom a mandrel takes the foot of the mainsail both the foil and the mandrel revolve to roll up the sail.Ī lot of issues with in-mast furling are caused by the sail not furling properly inside the mast and the furl being too bulky or the sail rubbing on the inside of the mast. Whether you have in-boom or in-mast, they both work on a similar principle which anyone with a furling genoa will be familiar with. ‘They’re mechanical systems and they need to be operated correctly.’ ‘Carefully,’ replies Jeremy White,of Elvstrøm Sails UK. In an age where we expect everything just to be simple and to work, letting off one line, and pulling another to make the mainsail appear or disappear sounds appealing, but what is the best way to furl the mainsail? Whether you’ve got a furling main on your own boat, or if you’ll be using one when you charter, it’s worth knowing how to avoid the pitfalls of furling mainsails. ![]() So has the reputation of furling mainsails been unfairly tainted, and are they more prone to user error, or have the systems ironed out the glitches? Hallberg Rassy reports that almost all new owners buying boats over 40ft opt for furling mainsail systems, with Discovery reporting a similar trend. In 2018, 38% of boats sailing round the world in the World ARC had furling mainsail. So it becomes important how we could provide information about the texture along with the point cloud before the mesh is generated. The mesh and texture will be generated in MeshLab. Stereo images -> disparity map -> reprojected 3D point cloud -> mesh -> textured mesh Table 1 Processing pipeline of this project. Particularly for our project, we want to bake a texture onto a mesh. I think most of them MeshLab could recognize, but I did not test all of them. One documentation of MATLAB summarized the data types often encountered in a PLY file. But somehow, we always would like a list which makes it clear that what the “pre-defined” data people are using.Īfter some search, I found some useful information. You could put anything you want as long as the data type is defined and the downstream program could recognize the data. Unfortunately, I have clear answers on none of them.įirst of all, it seems to me that the PLY file format only makes constraints on the data type we could use, but not on the data itself. The other is what information MeshLab is expecting or MeshLab could make use of. One is what kind of information is allowed to put into a PLY file. I face two issues when I was trying to figure out what I could put inside a PLY file. Sometimes we would like the PLY file to contain additional information. ↑ġ.3 Per-vertex information and UV coordinate I use the “Measuring Tool” in figure 1 to measure the known distance between two points.įigure 1 The “Measuring Tool” of MeshLab. It is always a good idea to check the dimension inside MeshLab to see if the reprojected point cloud has the right special size. The modified Q matrix makes the point cloud using a Y-axis parallel to the global Y-axis. If a zero-based indexing is used here, the following elements should be modified: The other things that matter are that, as learned from the sample code of OpenCV, certain elements of Q should be modified to make the 3D point cloud lying along the right direction. This may means that we have to do the calibration ourselves by OpenCV. If the OpenCV function reprojectImageTo3D( ) is used, we need the Q matrix that produced by the stereoRectify( ) function. There are a couple of things that we should take care when we doing this. In the sample code of OpenCV, it outputs the 3D point cloud into a PLY file. 1 Exporting the point cloud as a PLY file Well, I mean working at the lab and working from home. Mildred Delores Loving was the daughter of Musial (Byrd) Jeter and Theoliver Jeter. In 1967, 16 states still retained anti-miscegenation laws, mainly in the American South. On the other hand, most laws used a " one drop of blood" rule, which meant that one black ancestor made a person black in the view of the law. On the one hand, a person's reputation as black or white was usually what mattered in practice. Ī major concern was how to draw the line between black and white in a society in which white men had many children with enslaved black women. By 1894, when the Democratic Party in the South returned to power, restrictions were reimposed. The new Republican legislatures in six states repealed the restrictive laws. During the Reconstruction era in 1865, the Black Codes across the seven states of the lower South made interracial marriage illegal. Background Anti-miscegenation laws in the United States Īnti-miscegenation laws had been in place in certain states since the colonial period. federal court decisions holding restrictions on same-sex marriage in the United States unconstitutional, including in the Supreme Court decision Obergefell v. Beginning in 2013, the decision was cited as precedent in U.S. The Court found that the law nonetheless violated the Equal Protection Clause because it was based solely on "distinctions drawn according to race" and outlawed conduct-namely, that of getting married-that was otherwise generally accepted and which citizens were free to do. Virginia had argued before the Court that its law was not a violation of the Equal Protection Clause because the punishment was the same regardless of the offender's race, and thus it "equally burdened" both caucasians and non-caucasians. Its decision struck down Virginia's anti-miscegenation law and ended all race-based legal restrictions on marriage in the United States. In June 1967, the Supreme Court issued a unanimous decision in the Lovings' favor and overturned their convictions. Supreme Court, which agreed to hear their case. The Lovings appealed their conviction to the Supreme Court of Virginia, which upheld it. Their marriage violated Virginia's Racial Integrity Act of 1924, which criminalized marriage between people classified as "white" and people classified as " colored". The case involved Mildred Loving, a woman of color, and her white husband Richard Loving, who in 1958 were sentenced to a year in prison for marrying each other.
